Gillian Breen – Senior Manager

Gillian started with hanrahans in early 2013 as a Senior Accountant and was promoted to Manager in 2015. She is currently responsible for the financial reporting and tax compliance matters of clients with complex group structures as well as the management of the compliance lodgement program.

Gillian completed a Bachelor Degree with Honours in Accounting & Finance in 2007. After graduating from university, she commenced a 3.5 year training contract with Deloitte in Ireland.

Her role with Deloitte started in the Tax Department where she provided personal tax services to assignees for multinationals in Ireland and Irish companies with overseas operations.  Post her training contract, Gillian worked as a Tax Senior on a number of large multinational clients with responsibility for supervising junior staff.  She subsequently completed a short-term secondment in the Pension Department of Deloitte to extend her experience.

During her time at Deloitte, Gillian discovered her passion for a career in business services as she enjoys getting to know her clients and the ability to offer them a full suite of services. She took some time off from April 2012 to embark on one of her favourite pursuits of travelling and came to Australia in 2012.

Upon relocating to Sydney, Gillian decided to pursue her career in business services with a public accounting practice and took up a role with hanrahans in January 2013. After joining hanrahans she has quickly acquired local knowledge and is developing her expertise in the business services area. Through a combination of professional work and continuous training she has accumulated considerable experience in general accounting, financial reporting and compliance, as well as taxation matters for individuals, partnerships, companies, trusts and superannuation funds.

Gillian is a well organised person and a strong communicator with total commitment to excellent client services. Her ability to effectively communicate with clients and her skills in organising work are well recognised, which has resulted in her being given higher responsibilities.

Gillian is a full member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI) and also holds the status of a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA), both of which are recognised in Australia.

At leisure times, Gillian enjoys travelling, shopping and socialising. She’s an avid runner and has completed many half marathons and full marathons around Australia.
